Pensilva Youth 0:6 Phoenix City

Halloween and face paint applied we made our way to Pensilva, on arrival we found out the other team only had 5 players which was enough to play so after a warm up we kicked off.
Pensilva mounted the first and second attack gaining a corner and nearly scoring. When you play a side with 2 players less than your team you think it’s going to be easy well this is not always the case and although we put pressure on it was a full 10 minutes before Emma run from the halfway line to score. On the 19th minute Emma did it again this time knocking the ball in with the outside of her left foot.

2 minutes into the second half the ball came to Charlotte and her shot was knocked into the net by the keeper. With Phoenix at last playing football the chances started to come think and fast with Ellie nearly scoring and Dionne getting our 4th goal with a sweet low kick into the corner of the net which needed to be away from the keeper who was outstanding and making save after save.
Jess came out of goal and also nearly scored, then with 3 minutes to go Kat got her foot to the corner ball from Dionne who in turn got her 2nd goal with one minute to go. Pensilva gave the Player of the Match to Ellie for skill of communication (shouting, talking to other players) I asked the girls of Pensilva to pick our player and they choose Lottie.
In summary I have to say I dont like it when the other team is a player short let alone two, But I wish to congratulate Pensilva for the sprit they showed today bearing in mind we scored 6 the last time we played them and they had a full team that day.
As for us! We got there in the end, it was scary at times but hey it was HALLOWEEN!!! TJN.

Match report supplied by Ellie.
For the first 10 minutes both teams attacked, running up field with the ball at their feet and striking. 10 minutes into the game, Emma scored the opening goal for Phoenix making it 1-0. For the next part of play, players from Phoenix ran up field, alone, and shot but Pensilva's goal keeper made loads of fantastic saves. After 15 minutes we subbed Atlanta for Ellie and Charlotte for Dionne. 20 minutes into the game and Emma scores again, 2-0 to Phoenix. Just before halftime Charlotte strikes with a brilliant save from the Pensilva keeper. 1 minute into the 2nd half Charlotte scores for Phoenix. This is followed by a strike from Alice, well saved by their keeper.

We then moved forward, putting pressure on the Pensilva goal with shots from Alice, going wide, and Ellie, forcing a great save on the goal line. Soon after Emma makes a run, crosses it to Dionne and Dionne scores. Strong defending from Atlanta and Sophie, from Phoenix, is keeping Jess's work in goal to a minimum. Whilst not playing their best passing game, Phoenix keep up the pressure resulting with another goal from Dionne, soon followed by Kat scoring form a deflected corner.

The end score was 6-0 which wasn't fair to the determination of Pensilva's 5 girls who all played well under the circumstances.
The Pensilva player's player was Charlotte and their Manager's player was Ellie.
Our manager gave their Player of the Match to their goalkeeper.
