UNDER 14's 'RALEIGH' - 2011/12 - Season Summary

U14'S REWARDED FOR THEIR EFFORTS BY WINNING THE

* * * FAIR PLAY AWARD * * * FOR THE DIVISION 2011/12

What a season once more, the problem we had this year was not finishing off teams when we dominated the game and we simply lost games that we should have won.

If we are to progress next season we really do need to knuckle down in training and work on our technique.

The league table does not lie but we did not have much luck this season and we dropped points in games we should have won, we beat all the teams who finished above us this season and that shows on our day we can beat anyone.

Once again I thought we played some lovely football this season and despite losing a couple of experience players half way through. The lads were a credit and got stronger and stronger.

What I admire most about this crop of lads is their togetherness and I think that shows on the pitch.

I would like to thank all the parents and their families for all the support once again this season and if I could give a special award it would go to Paul Stanyard for all he does on behalf of the team, special thanks to Steve my assistant and without his sense of humour the job would be even harder, a special thanks to my dear wife Julie who puts up the next nets and chases for the ball come rain or shine and who also puts up with my moods in the week leading up to the game but most of all I would like to thank the players for all their hard work and commitment.

The hardest thing I find about being the manager is picking the team and deciding where to play players and who to rotate, the lads have never complained (parents may!) and that makes it much easier because they all want to play and deserve to play but that is only role of the manager I do not enjoy and I do try and be fair.
