GIRLS FOOTBALL AT UNDER 16's - STATEMENT from the league
After receiving correspondence from a majority of teams in the U/16 girls Leander division, the policy committee decided to encourage as many teams as possible to recruit enough girls to enable them to adopt a 9 a side format for the coming season 2010/2011.
Therefore as many games as possible will be played as 9 a side. Unless one or both teams are unable to play with 9 girls then the match would become 7 a side played under last seasons rules, at this time there are four teams who are not sure if they can play 9 a side,we would hope these teams will do their best to find a few more girls who would like to play football and sign them before the new season gets under way.
We feel 9 a side football is the best way to develop girls football in the older age group of our league and hope you all will do your best to play as many games as you can under this format.
